Bed Bug Treatments

There are several things that you need to do in order to eliminate your bed bug problem. You can be part of the solution. It is important to remember that bed bugs can move with you!

Tent Fumigation for Bed Bugs

1. DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING. Bed bugs can travel in bags, shoes, hats, luggage, etc. If you take them out of the home you risk possible re infestation upon return.

2. You will need to be out of your property for 24 hrs. You will need clothes. Any cloths that you will be taking with you need to be either put in dryer for at least 10-15 minutes on high. Dirty cloths should be laundered in hot water then dried, once dry they should be left on high heat for an additional 10-15 minutes (Bed Bugs are susceptible to extreme temperatures, the heat will kill adults and eggs). Once you have completed cleaning place your clothing in plastic bags to reduce the risk of recontamination. Be sure to tie the bags at the top with either tape or rubber band.

3. Bag food items. (see tent fumigation preparation for more details.)

4. Consider placing shoes, slippers and hats in the dryer for 15 to 20 minutes. Especially if you are going to be taking them with you prior to the fumigation.

Liquid Spot Treatment for Bed Bugs

1. Remove all bedding material from mattress. Wash all materials in HOT water and dry on HIGH.

2. Remove all clothes from closets and drawers in infested rooms. Wash all clothes in HOT water and dry on HIGH. If cloths are clean drying on high heat for 15-20 minutes will be sufficient.

3. Remove curtains or draperies in infested rooms. Wash in HOT water and dry on high.

4. Once you have completed cleaning place clothes, bedding and curtains in plastic bags to reduce the risk of recontamination.

5. Use a steamer to clean your mattress and carpets. (optional but highly effective)

6. Consider placing shoes, slippers and hats in dryer for 15 to 20 minutes.
